Gameplay

You can earn Experience Points by defeating monsters and completing quests.

How do I earn gold pieces and what can I buy with it?

You can find gold pieces in chests, when you defeat monsters and also when you complete quests.

Gold pieces are used in order to increase the chances of success when crafting a piece of equipment. The higher the rarity of the item and the success rate, the higher the price in gold.

What are the different game phases and how do they work?

There are three phases: The Hero Phase, the Exploration Phase and the Villain Phase.

In the Hero Phase, players can make their moves and actions in any desired order. For example, during each Hero phase you may move and then take an action next, or take an action first and move next, or simply move twice without taking any action. Each hero has different movement speed influencing the number of squares they can move.

The Exploration Phase will spawn new dungeon tiles in the right circumstances. For instance, if you are on an unexplored edge of a tile during the Exploration Phase, the next adjacent tile will be revealed.

Finally, the Villain phase is when monsters and villains activate and take their turn. Note that monsters only activate on the player’s turn that drew them. But be wary, if there is more than one monster in play with the same name, those monsters will activate each time someone who controls them takes a turn.

How do I attack?

When you desire to attack, you first need to choose which of your powers you’d like to use.

Once you’ve selected your power, simply click on the desired monster to attack it. Note that if your power is a ranged one, the range is counted by the number of tiles.

What kind of powers can I use when attacking?

There are three types of powers you can use: At-Will, Daily, or Utility powers.

At-will powers can be used as many times as you like during your quest. Daily powers, however, can only be used once per quest.

Utility powers are generally once per quest, but some are powers that can be used each turn.

What is an Encounter and when do they happen?

Encounters represent random events occuring during quests, such as negative effect or attack damage. Note that some encounters can also be positive or neutral.

How do I collect items in a dungeon?

Items are collected by defeating monsters and opening treasure chests.

What kind of items can I collect in a dungeon? Can I save those items for later?

Players can collect items ranging from healing potions to scrolls of disintegrate. These items can only be used during quests. However, they can be saved for your next quests or scrapped for crafting materials.

What is a healing surge and when does it happen?

If your hero is down to zero hit points at the start of your Hero Phase, a healing surge will be used. A surge will heal half of your hero’s total hit points.

You have a limit of two healing surges per quest. If at anytime one of your heroes attempt to use a healing surge but there are none left, the quest is failed.

How do I unlock new Heroes?

You can unlock new hero slots by leveling up your profile level.
